Today at its CES Press conference, Voxx International announced its foray into the rapidly growing action camera market with the 360Fly Camera. The 360Fly camera is quite dissimilar to other action camera in that it records in a remarkable 360 degree circular image. The camera also has a 240 degree vertical recording angle meaning that just about everything except what is directly under the camera can be captured. The 360Fly is built ruggedly and is tripod-mountable, and can be used as a helmet cam.
Voxx also announced a smartphone attachment called the 360MicroFly that mimics the field of view of the 360Fly. Both cameras work with an accompanying smartphone app for both iOS and Android that allows the user to sync, edit, and share the recordings from the camera.
All-in-all this looks to be a compelling alternative to a GoPro and may even have broader appeal. I personally can think of tons of uses for this, and I am sure you can too.
