Steven (user g1011999) over at the XDA-Developer forums has stated he has gotten ICS working on the Kindle Fire.
Currently, the touchpanel and hardware graphics are working, but there is much left to fix such as audio, wifi, accelerometer, and the light sensor. He’s going to release the kernel and android source for more help fixing things up. This is exciting news because originally it was thought the Kindle Fire might get overlooked due to the slightly cheaper price of the B&N Nook Tablet. More can be found at the original XDA thread or at Steven’s website including videos of Ice Cream Sandwich running on a Kindle Fire.
