Today on its TechNet blog, Microsoft announced that the Surface with Windows 8 Pro wil be available to purchase in January with a price of $899 for a 64GB model, and $999 for a 126GB version.
For those who don’t remember, the Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro is a full-fledged Windows 8 Tablet. The Surface with Windows 8 Pro has an Intel Core i5 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and a 1080p Display. It also has a USB 3 port, and a Mini DisplayPort that can run an external display at 2560×1440. This machine is pretty sweet looking, and I think that since the largest complaint with the Surface with Windows RT is that it doesn’t actually run Windows 8, this Surface with Windows 8 Pro will be a tough tablet to beat (for those looking to spend $1000 on a tablet). For more specs, check out the Official Surface Page. The Surface with Windows 8 Pro will also be compatible with Touch Cover and the Type Cover from Microsoft. Hopefully, someone gets SolidWorks running on this thing, I would love to see how it performs. I am in need of a mobile CAD platform.
