Monopoly for free on Amazon Appstore today!
Monopoly – uh YES!
Amazon Appstore has Monopoly for free today. Its about what you would expect for Monopoly on Android. You can play against computer players, or up to 3 friends on a single device. That last part is a little disappointing. I would have liked to see WiFi-capable multiplayer at least. Aside from that and some slightly annoying music and sound effects, it is good enough to satisfy your need to play Monopoly on the go. Just don’t be like this guy (NSFW for strong language if you hit the link).
t3chniq’s final verdict: It is free – of course you should get it!

If you can’t play multiplayer on seperate devices (a.k.a. “wifi-capable multiplayer”) then what good is it?
Jeff,
You’re right. There is no wifi-capable multiplayer. I have heard that the iOS version of the app does have this. No idea why they didn’t include it in the Android version. Of course, if you do have friends nearby and a tablet, you can play with multiple people when they are around using a turn-by-turn method offered in the app. Also, one thing to remember is it’s free. At normal price, I would agree, it’s somewhat of a waste of money. But at a price tag of a whopping $0.00 it could be good to have around on your Amazon account in case you ever find yourself on a long train ride with a friend or some other similar situation.
So having tested this over the holidays, I can say the lack of any sort of multi-device multiplayer is a downer. It becomes half monopoly, half stratego. You play, but you really can’t tell what your opponents are doing. Someone just hands you the tablet after a few minutes and you look at the board and go “hey! when did these houses all appear?”. Also: Auctions suck with multiplayer because you have to do a lot of passing over a short period of time.
All I can say is this: Fix it!
Good insight Jeff. Maybe the best way to play this then is on a tablet on the table so others can see your move. This, of course, is from lack of multiplayer wifi support. You should post over on Amazon and the Android Market if you’d like to see the developers possibly make some changes.
