Well, the headline says it all: Windows 8 will be released on October 26th. TechCrunch is reporting that Microsoft revealed the release date in its recent earnings call.
I have been using Windows 8 since the first Preview, and I must say, as a tablet OS it is pretty sweet on the iPad (thank you Splashtop), but I am just not feeling the changes for the desktop. As it stands now, Windows 8 is still a mess with a mouse. Also, I know it is still not ready for consumers, but the whole “sent from my Windows 8 PC” signature thing needs to stop, really the largest pet peeve of mine is that you can’t turn that off. Anyways, for those of you looking forward to a consumer-ready version of Windows 8, you’ll have your chance on October 26th.
